Beatrix Amerhauser (ベアトリクス・アメルハウザー Beatorikusu Ameruhauzā?), or affectionately called by her nickname Bea (ベア Bea?), is a main character in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. She is a former college student from Germany who travels to Japan in hopes of eating the best sushi ever made.

Appearance[]

Beatrix is an attractive, busty young woman with a voluptuous figure, having turquoise-blue eyes, with thigh-length blond hair tied up in a high ponytail, along with shoulder-length hair strands split on both sides framing her face.

  • She usually wears a white tank top that exposes half her chest and dark-purple baggy pants with a full hip armor attached to it.
  • At times when she is out fighting, she dons a full samurai Shogunate dark-blue and red armor that provides her with fire and bite resistance while sporting a Mengu Sōmen mask that obscures her entire face. She appears to be carrying a katana, a bow and a naginata.
  • She's a German psycho Samurai!

Personality[]

Beatrix is a sweet, outgoing, free-spirited kindhearted and bubbly young woman who becomes enthusiastic when any topic about "Japan" is being discussed, usually explaining in detail the cultural aspects and/or traditions of the country.

She's kind and friendly who is goal-driven as she persisted to bring fresh fish in order to have sushi, even if it means fighting off zombies. She is also not embarrassed by bathing with men as she happily disrobed to join Akira Tendou and Kenichirou Ryuuzaki in a hot spring.

Abilities[]

Along with Akira Tendou, Beatrix serves as the group's main fighters; By donning samurai armor, she can effectively protect herself from zombies. A woman in peak physical condition, she has shown herself capable of easily dispatching hordes of zombies in a matter of seconds, all the while donning the heavy equipment. Beatrix is a weapons expert who has been able to use a katana, naginata, bow and arrows/crossbows, etc. in rapid succession to quickly defeat zombies and without showing signs of fatigue.

Like Akira, she serves as the group's primary fighter where Akira uses his athletic skills and experience as a former rugby player while Beatrix uses her talent in wielding different sorts of weapons and she is often given the role to dispatch any zombies that get in the way, seeing as how she is able to proficiently use them.

She is strong enough to cut zombies in half and she has great aim being able to land perfect shots at zombie heads with an arrow. She is also capable of fighting against other weapon-wielding foes, such as when she fought a woman wielding a chainsaw.

Equipment[]

Beatrix wields some Sengoku-era weaponry that she has collected, ranging from:

  • A Naginata spear
  • A Bow & Arrows
  • A pair of Katanas

However, her naginata and one of her katanas were wrecked by Touko Kanbayashi's chainsaw in Chapter 18, leaving Beatrix with only her bow and one of the katanas where the blade becomes brittle and gets easily chipped away by Touko's chainsaw in Chapter 19. However, the anime spares Beatrix's katana, but it does suffer significant damage.

Story[]

Beatrix was an ordinary girl in Germany until she discovered Japanese culture on TV where she then became obsessed with it and dreamed of going to Japan someday. She began researching Japan and its cultures, such as foods, places in Japan and their entire history. She then began practicing Japanese handwriting and speaking during those years before finally graduating. During her tour in Japan, the pandemic started and she then went on a journey to travel across Japan to eat sushi from the last surviving sushi chef.

She then found a fish truck and drove it to where the sushi chef was waiting. After making it halfway through, the car ran out of gas and zombies began surrounding her. Then, a group of survivors (Akira Tendou, Kenichirou Ryuuzaki and Shizuka Mikazuki) stop by and intends to help her out, but she comes out and kill the zombies in her samurai attire before introducing herself. She then pleaded that the gang help her deliver the fish to the last living Sushi Chef, Akira happily agreed as eating all you can eat sushi was on his Bucket list. After clearing out all the Zombies in the area, Beatrix was able to enjoy the sushi alongside her new friends. The owner said that he was so happy that his sushi pleased Beatrix to tears of joy and he cooked for them nonstop until they were satisfied.

Their next stop was a Hot Spring as they hadn't had a proper bath and Shizuka stated using river water made them smell like grass. Akira and Kenichirou dived in the hot spring and they invited the girls in since the pump for the women's baths was busted. Shizuka refused to bathe with them, but Beatrix told her the history of Hot Springs and that men and women bathed together for medicinal purposes. She then disrobed in front of Shizuka and was about to join the guys, but the dip was cut short when a horde of zombies emerged from the water. They fled whilst trying to get their bath robes back on, then climbed a steep cliff and slept for the night. Beatrix and Kencho woke up and noticed that Akira and Shizuka were not sleeping, they then found them in a mountain spring free of zombies. Beatrix mocked them for being alone in the nude, but was also angered by this as she wanted to bathe too. Ken said that he didn't want to interfere with Akira's love life, but he wanted to bathe, so Beatrix and Ken stripped and joined the two lovebirds saying Hot Springs are meant to be shared.

Relationships[]

Akira Tendou[]

Beatrix is close friend with Akira and co. as they helped her deliver the fresh fish she needs to have sushi. She is then seen going along with them, having friendly interactions with each other.

Kenichirou Ryuuzaki[]

Like Akira, Beatrix first met Kencho when she was fighting off against zombies to deliver the fresh fish safely to make sushi. Since then she has been traveling along with him. While close friends, Beatrix dislikes his perverted advances on her, like when he wanted her to be a Bikini Bar Waitress when the group wanted to open a bar. He wished for her to offer her body as a special service, to which she was repulsed.-

Shizuka Mikazuki[]

Like with Akira and Kenichirou, Beatrix and Shizuka are friends where they both Unite against Kencho and his pervy Ideas of using their bodies.

Lamda Chop[]

Beatrix met Chop when they arrived at the Ai hotel, she was treated to a nice hot bath given great Music and to listen to and given great food, after the hotel was overrun by Zombies Lampard joined the group as their personal servant. Beatrix and Lampard get along and are close as seen when Shizuka was bitten, Beatrix fell to her knees crying and Lampard was shown resting both his hands on her shoulders to try and comfort her.

Takemina[]

Beatrix met Takemina when they arrived in Ogawa. At first she refused to work with him as the Bar work involved her wearing a bikini, but when she started working in a regular Bartender outfit she got along with him and became friends.

Tsuru[]

Izuna Tokage[]

Beatrix cares for Izzy like a little sister. When escaping the lab, jumping through the door, Beatrix Grabbed Izzy and made sure that she took the brunt of the impact and held Izzy close to her

Etymology[]

  • The name Beatrix means "voyager, traveler" in the Late Latin and it is later influenced in spelling by association with the Latin word beatus or "blessed, happy".
    • It can also mean "she who brings happiness; blessed" in Latin, Dutch.

Trivia[]

  • Beatrix's breasts are so large that she struggles to fit them inside even a men's yukata as seen in Episode 8.
  • Beatrix doesn't appear in the live action Netflix adaption despite it covering several parts after Akira Tendou's group have left Tokyo such as the Hot Spring of the Dead chapter, which takes place one chapter after she joins the group but however it is due to it being rearranged more earlier before she joined the group.
  • In the English version, Beatrix peppers her dialogue with random Japanese words that show she's invested in immersing herself in Japanese culture; calling Japan "Nippon", saying "hai" instead of "yes" and calling her new allies "samurai".
    • While Beatrix speaks fluent Japanese, the English localization renders her dialogue with a stereotypical German accent, such as saying "zis" instead of "this" or "vud" instead of "would". This implies that her Japanese is spoken with a strong accent and the English dub of the anime rolls with this and gives her a thick German accent.
  • As a German citizen, Beatrix is prone to responding in her native German from time to time, thanking Akira for coming to her aid with "Dankeschön" (Thank you very much!) while telling Kencho "Keine Ursache!" (Don't mention it!) after saving his life.
